SIMLA, Tuesday—Information has been acquired from Peshawur {that a} reconnaissance occasion consisting of two squadrons of the ninth Bengal Lancers, underneath Captain Creagh, grew to become entangled within the hills on the street to Mamanni, and had been ambuscaded. The Second Division of the Tirah pressure was despatched from Shinwari yesterday underneath Common Palmer to function towards Dargai and one other village in its neighborhood, whereas a direct assault on the enemy’s place was made underneath Common Westmacott, through Chagra Kotal. The operations had been fully profitable. The place held by the enemy was most troublesome of entry however Dargai was captured and its defenses demolished. The British casualties had been: killed, Gordon Highlanders, Main Jennings Bramley and two privates; severely wounded, Lieutenant Pears, of the Scottish Rifles, who was quickly connected to the Gordon Highlanders; wounded, 14 privates of the King’s personal Scottish Borderers. The full killed was 10, and wounded 53. The retirement to Shinwari was completely unmolested. The troops each British, and native behaved splendidly. The enemy misplaced closely.
