TO MUCH RELIEF, a cargo vessel absolutely loaded with Ukrainian grain set sail from Odessa on August 1st. The 26,000 tonnes of corn on board is at the moment en path to Lebanon by way of the Black Sea. This was the first such shipment because the conflict began and a Russian blockade prevented Ukraine from transport its crops. Within the week since its ports reopened below a UN-backed deal final month, 9 extra ships, carrying virtually 300,000 tonnes of grain, have set off. By the autumn, Ukrainian officers anticipate to match the pre-war degree of exports. (See chart.)
